Flat Foot

Flat foot occurs when the arch of the foot falls or is lower than usual, causing the entire sole of the foot to come into complete or near-complete contact with the ground. Flat feet may be hereditary for some individuals or may occur over time due to age or consistent stress on the foot causing the arch to weaken. The onset of flat foot can result from regularly wearing high heels or shoes with little support or previous foot injuries.

Ranging from daily discomfort to deformity, flat feet can make simple activities like walking uncomfortable and can even lead to additional conditions like heel arthritis. If you suffer from this foot condition but find that nonsurgical treatments like orthotics, braces, over-the-counter medication, and physical therapy are not helping, you may want to consult with a foot specialist.
