Muscle Strains

A muscle is a connective tissue that can contract.  Muscles can move joints to create motion and can absorb energy from loading of joints (as in walking, running, or landing from a jump)

A muscle strain is a tear of the fibers of a muscle. (As opposed to a sprain which is a tear of a ligament).  Most muscle strains are treated without surgery with a combination of rest, medication, and exercises.
