Orthopedic Telemedicine

Orthopedic Telemedicine Visits Available

We are proud to offer our established patients a telemedicine visit for those who want to do a video visit in lieu of an office visit.

Telemedicine is a way to experience a “virtual appointment” with your doctor. Tri-County Orthopedics offers video and phone visits for follow-up and post-operative appointments as well as simple or noncomplex new problems. A video visit is similar to an in-office visit, but instead of traveling to see your doctor, you can video chat with them from home, work, or another convenient location. During these visits, your doctor can discuss your problem, assess your recovery, and even review advanced imaging like MRIs. At the end of the visit, they will discuss a treatment plan as well as arrange for prescriptions for medications, physical therapy, and advanced imaging tests.

To request a telemedicine appointment, please call (973) 538-2334.

Who can have a telemedicine appointment?

New and existing patients may be eligible for a telemedicine appointment.  Currently, we are recommending scheduling a telemedicine appointment for the following patients:

  • You are scheduled for a routine follow-up for a chronic condition
  • You are scheduled for a routine postoperative follow-up (excluding first postoperative visits or visits requiring X-rays)
  • You are interested in doing a video visit in lieu of an office visit for follow-up or for reviewing MRI results

What do I need for my telemedicine visit?

You will need access to a smartphone, tablet, or a computer with a working microphone or camera.

How do I connect during the visit?

You will receive an email or a text message asking you to sign in to the “virtual” waiting room. The provider you are visiting with will then connect with you.

How do I schedule a telemedicine visit?

If you are interested in scheduling a telemedicine visit, we recommend calling our office for an appointment at (973) 538-2334. Our staff will confirm the schedule with the desired provider and will schedule an appointment that is convenient for you.

Is this visit covered by my medical insurance?

Many insurance providers now cover telemedicine services for adults and children. It is your responsibility to verify that you have specific benefit coverage for telemedicine services under your benefit plan. Our office can help you to determine if a video visit is covered by your insurance provider, but we also recommend speaking with your insurance provider directly if you have questions.

What if I have technical issues?
