Water Safety

Swimming is the most popular summer activity, and the best thing you can do to help your family stay safe is to enroll in age-appropriate swim lessons. Swimming is something that people of all ages enjoy, even if it’s just putting your feet in. It can also be something that can turn dangerous in a second.

Here at Tri-County Orthopedics, we encourage water safety no matter what you are doing or where you’re going. To stay safe in the water, here are some tips to follow:

• Swim in designated areas
• Always swim with a buddy
• Never leave a young child unattended near water
• Young children or inexperienced swimmers should wear life jackets
• Establish family rules and enforce them
• Even if you aren’t swimming, be cautious around bodies of water

In case of an emergency, call 9-1-1 as fast as you can. If a child is missing, check the water first because every second counts. It is always a good idea to take a CPR class, just to be prepared.
