My Comeback Story: Donna R.
My knee replacement story

I came to Dr Simmerano for a second opinion. I shattered my right patella in a car accident in 1988. (37 years ago) . I had been told that my knee had deteriorated and I had a 20% chance of “drop foot” after a knee replacement. Dr Simmerano understood my concern and sent me for a special X-ray study. He told me that my chances of that happening were minimal.
After the surgery, I immediately tried to move my foot and was excited to see my foot move normally. Upon release from the hospital, I was walking up and down my driveway with a walker 3 days later. I was walking with a cane ten days after the surgery and driving my car 2 1/2 weeks after surgery. I was also walking my dog 3 miles a day without a cane 3 weeks after surgery. I finished my physical therapy 3 months after surgery with full range of motion in my knee. I go to the gym, walk regularly and recently went snowshoeing (5 months post surgery)
