Since I was a child, I have always been athletic and played many sports. I received a baseball scholarship to Arizona State University but that was cut short by an injury and meniscus surgery. As a young adult, I continued to play softball and baseball but began to develop knee pain and severe arthritis in the knee where I had the surgery in college. At age 57, I was lucky enough to find Dr. Lombardi from Tri-County Orthopedics. Even though I was young for a knee replacement, he asked if the pain was affecting my quality of life. At that time, I could barely climb up stairs without severe pain, let alone engage in any exercise or sporting activities. We proceeded with the knee replacement which changed my life in so many ways.
In the years to come, I had two separate injuries causing me to need Dr. Lombardi to do repairs on a patella tendon and a second torn meniscus. Our daughter also had a knee repair that he performed. By this time, Dr. Lombardi was not only my doctor, but he always treated me with care and concern so that I considered him a friend as well. He even gave us advice when my wife's 95-year-old mother broke her femur when we reached out to him on a Sunday. Our family is so thankful to him as he is a very special person, and we are so happy that he has been there for us over the years!
