On September 30th, I discovered both my hip joints were bone on bone and surgery was needed. I was able to get an immediate appt with Dr Goldman on October 9th. He evaluated and explained that both hips needed to be replaced, my pain and lack of mobility, and asked if they could be done at the same time. He carefully explained that if both were on the same day, it would occur at Morristown, but the surgical center could do them with a 2-3 week span between them. Dr Goldman had performed a knee replacement on my husband a year ago at the surgical center and it was such a phenomenal experience I opted for that. On November 12, the right hip was done, and the left on November 26th! I was told I could cancel the 26th if I choose to after having the first! On November 24th I felt so good I had NO reservations about going into surgery again. My pain went from a 9-10 to a 1, and I had no swelling in my legs following both surgeries. I utilized a hospital bed to elevate my legs, but got up frequently to walk. Having PT at home afterwards was wonderful, progressing my strength and mobility, and having me walk with a cane prior to each post op visit. I am now 8 and IO weeks post replacement, without pain, and driving. My strength and mobility deficits prior to surgery were significant ( getting handicapped parking placard and not wanting to go into store secondary to decreased strength, endurance, and pain), but I’m recovering well and plan to return to a very physical occupation less than 3 months following the first surgery! I’m going to PT 3x/week, making progress with every session. I’m driving, started grocery shopping, and am no longer fearful of wanting to walk into a store. The entire staff at Tri- County and the surgical center were amazing!!!!! At Tri County, whether I needed a form for a handicap placard, forms filled out for short-term disability for my employer, processing for a hospital bed, or making an appointment, it was done happily and quickly! At the surgical center, every individual I encountered was pleasant and performed their individual professional duties with pride and beyond expectations. From Dr Goldman with his exceptional surgical skills, to his office and the surgical center's staff made the entire experience one I will never regret and only have positive thoughts of which I share frequently!!!
