My Comeback Story: Scott S.
**My Comeback Story** In my late teens, I faced a significant setback when I tore both of my ACLs. Determined to stay active, I took up cycling to rehabilitate my knees and remarkably continued skiing without ACLs for 14 years. Eventually, I underwent ACL repair surgery with Dr. Hurley. By age 50, my right knee had deteriorated to bone-on-bone, prompting the decision for a total knee replacement. Despite warnings that I was "too young" for the procedure, it proved to be a life-changing choice. The surgery, performed by Dr. D'Agostini in November, was a resounding success. I prepared by entering surgery as strong as possible and committed to rigorous rehabilitation. My hard work paid off: just eight months later, in July, I won a 45-and-over Criterium bike race in Sterling, New Jersey. The rapid recovery allowed me to return to hiking and enjoying physical activities with my children, restoring my quality of life. I have no regrets about undergoing the surgery at 50 and am grateful for Dr. D'Agostini’s exceptional care, which enabled me to reclaim an active, fulfilling life.
