BEAR® Knee Implant

A New Way to Heal ACL Tears

At Tri-County Orthopedics, we’re proud to offer the latest innovations in orthopedic care—especially for athletes and active individuals of all ages. One of the most exciting advancements is the BEAR Implant, also known as Bridge Enhanced ACL Restoration. This breakthrough procedure gives patients with ACL injuries a new treatment option that encourages the body to heal itself.

Unlike traditional ACL reconstruction, which replaces the torn ligament with a graft from your own body or a donor, the BEAR Implant supports your natural ACL as it repairs itself. This minimally invasive, evidence-based procedure can lead to a more natural recovery and function—without sacrificing another tendon.

How the BEAR Implant Works

Your knee contains synovial fluid—a thick, slippery substance that helps reduce friction in the joint. While helpful, this fluid has historically made it difficult for the ACL to heal on its own.

The BEAR Implant acts as a physical bridge between the torn ends of your ACL, protecting the injury site and allowing the body’s healing process to work effectively. It holds the ligament in place and creates an environment where it can regrow and reattach—something not possible with traditional ACL repair methods.

Because the BEAR procedure doesn’t require a graft, your healthy tendons and tissues are preserved. This may help your knee feel and function more naturally after recovery.

Benefits of the BEAR Implant Procedure

For eligible patients, the BEAR Implant offers several advantages:

  • Encourages your ACL to heal itself
  • Helps restore the size and structure of your original ACL
  • Minimally invasive with only one surgical site
  • Avoids concerns about quality in donor graft tissue
  • May result in less pain during recovery

Is the BEAR Procedure Right for Me?

The BEAR Implant is ideal for patients who meet specific medical criteria, including:

  • Age 14 or older
  • Fully developed bones (skeletal maturity)
  • MRI-confirmed complete ACL tear
  • ACL tissue still attached to the shinbone (tibia)
