Fellowship-trained sports medicine and interventional spine specialist Dr. Ian Wendel comes to Cedar Knolls

Ian W. Wendel, D.O., fellowship-trained nonoperative sports medicine and interventional spine specialist, has joined Tri-County Orthopedics and will be providing care at their Cedar Knolls office at The Advanced Medical Center on 197 Ridgedale Ave., Suite 300. As a nonoperative sports medicine and interventional spine specialist, Dr. Wendel treats a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, including neck and back conditions, ankle and shoulder injuries and various disorders affecting athletes. Dr. Wendel has extensive training in the latest interventional procedures and techniques, including diagnostic ultrasound, electrodiagnostics, ultrasound-guided joint and tendon injections, platelet-rich plasma, epidurals, medial branch blocks and radiofrequency ablations.

Dr. Wendel received his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in West Orange and Newark, New Jersey, where he served as academic chief resident. He then went on to complete an ACGME-accredited sports medicine and interventional spine fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

Dr. Wendel is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and sports medicine and has received his RMSK certification in musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound. He is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the New Jersey Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
